1970 Nissan Skyline GT-R Microcar Replica

We know what you’re thinking but stop right there. What you are looking at here isn’t the result of some crafty photoshop business - it’s the real deal; an actual factual microcar replica of a 1970 Nissan Skyline GT-R coupe that was created by Japanese tuning firm Liberty Walk Performance. The scaled down, single-seater clone of Nissan’s first-generation Skyline GT-R is based on a quad-bike and it’s perfectly drivable.
This is not the first time we’ve shown you a microcar replica from Liberty Walk Performance as some of you may remember the…Lambormini Murcielago snapped by our own Phil Alex at last year’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
The Japanese company has not yet added pricing info on the Skyline GT-R buggy on its website, but just to get an idea, the Lambormini starts from 1.88 million Yen, which comes to about US$23,250 or €16,750 at today’s exchange rates. Feast your eyes on the photo gallery and a couple of videos after the jump.

Louis Vuitton-esque MINI JCW Looks Kewl

We're no luxury handbag experts, but the first thought that comes to mind upon seeing CoverEFX's MINI John Cooper Works [JCW] tuning proposal is a....Louis Vuitton bag on wheels. For obvious reasons, the monogram canvas is different than the one found on the products of the famous French design house, but its styling as well as the colors and the leathery texture of the special foil wrap all point to an inspiration that come from Louis Vuitton.
The new look is complemented by a set of matching matte black and matte gold metallic 17-inch OZ LM alloy wheels surrounded by Toyo R888 205/40 R17 84W tires.
In the performance department, CoverEFX says it offers two stages of tune for the 1.6-liter twin-scroll turbo engine. The first adds an ECU upgrade along with a 2.5-inch exhaust system with Milltek downpipe, sports catalyst and extra large sports air filter to lift output from 211HP and 280Nm to 236HP and 350Nm. The second stage includes a more aggressive software tune pushing output to 252HP and a maximum torque of 382 Nm.
A short shift kit for the gearbox and a stainless steel KW Variant 3 suspension round off the performance upgrades.

Mini Cars

It was back in the late 1950s when the car is the first Mini rolled off the first assembly line in England. Fuel rationing has started in England, which was the catalyst for creating unique and this at the time, one of a kind car is quickly becoming a symbol of the British.

Mini was produced from 1959 until as recently as 2000, when production ceased BMC) British cars cars) because of lagging sales. It seems that most of the buyers cars years have developed a taste for less economic and more a more dynamic design models of foreign competition.

However, it was subsequently sold to BMW in 2001 and production was resumed once again under the name of the new BMW Mini. The recent rise in fuel prices, which sent the price of gasoline soared as much as 5 dollars a gallon in the United States that has brought a new generation of car buyers once again to re-discover this jewel in the crown of the car.

He pointed out that the Mini apart from other small cars such as Volkswagen Beatles that had preceded it, was that the Mini, while being small and economical fuel consumption and in spite of that, and far more extensive than the inside of the car. This was achieved by placing the engine side and extend beyond the wheel base to the edge of the cars.

While the measured dimensions of the mini 10'X4'X4 just 'The objective of the three man design team that created it is that a full 80% of the total area of the cars is the mandate of passengers and their luggage. They actually did not achieve this objective, and therefore the reasons which led to the unique shape clothes nest box.

As designs go, the clothes were quite original background with those being the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S models. However, over the years of the new design modifications and changes to allow a prostitute is not looking to become Mini mathematical formulas so much. However, it was three victories clothes in the Monte Carlo Rally in the 60s that really caught the eye in the world, with regard to sporting potential.

Although the Mini has landed roles in a number of movies over the years, it was roles in the recent popular comic spy Austin states that perhaps most famous for. Although Austin Powers led the Jaguar, Mini and clear in the number of impressions in many cameo fill the streets in the background.

In recent years, sales of the Mini has chosen to once again even with the help of changes in the new design a few and being equipped with the safety airbag to make it compatible with the standards of British car. Has also been introduced four new models to the public in recent years, as well as slightly modified by the name of the Mini from Mini.

Another factor for the resurgence of the popularity of car buying public is tired of the so-called fuel efficient cars to turn Tom be narrow and lacking in style. Mini but can always be counted on to carry four passengers in all parts of comfort and elegance, while providing excellent fuel consumption and it also sells for a reasonable price.

Mini John Cooper Works and Clubman in Geneva

It is funny to see what happens to a successful car. When a vehicle hits the jackpot and becomes a reference in something, most competitors try to challenge it in many ways. This is what has occurred with the revived Mini, which has, since its presentation, been the target of all other brands. Whenever a small and trendy car is presented to the public, it is natural to call it a “Mini killer”. Well, as you all already know, Mini competitors will have to rethink their strategies pretty fast. Yesterday the brand introduced the John Cooper Works for Mini and Clubman at the Geneva Motor Show.

Besides all the aesthetical changes, both cars have received a 211 cv version of their 1।6-litre turbo engine. It allows the Mini and the Clubman to have a top speed of 238 km/h and to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h respectively in 6.5 s and 6.8 s.

This would be enough to put the Mini kilometers away from all other small and nostalgic cars, but John Cooper’s signature helps the car be even more extraordinary। Even someone that is not very used to cars will perceive this vehicle is not only about the engine. It is about handling. The suspension is 10 mm lower, the EPAS steering system allows a sportier setting to be programmed at the press of a button and brakes are stronger, with nice 17-inch alloy wheels to allow a better view of discs and calipers.

The Mini John Cooper Works will cost € 27,700 and the Mini John Cooper Works Clubman will be sold by € 29,500, both prices valid for Germany. Other countries pricing is yet to be defined.

MINI JCW Cooper S Hatch and Clubman Revealed for Geneva Debut

Spiced-up versions of MINI's second-generation Cooper S Hatchback and new Clubman models are to debut at Geneva next month, signalling that Chili simply isn't a hot enough specification for the guys over at JCW. The re-Worksed versions carry adapted performance features from MINI's Challenge race car and offer the full range of John Cooper Works body styling upgrades.

JCW have engineered a MINI Challenge for the road, coupling the race car's 211 hp 1.6-litre unit with newly-uprated sports suspension specifically-tuned for Works MINIs, larger disc brakes with uprated red callipers and a strengthened six-speed manual transmission. Prices are expected to start from £20,500 and £21,700 for the hatch and Clubman respectively.

These uprated features, akin to those on its racing-bred sibling, deliver output of 132 hp per litre and an impressive 40 mpg, while straight-line sprints to 62 mph take just 6.5 seconds in hatchback and 6.8 seconds in Clubman form. A new speedo has been designed to cater for the JCW's new 148 mph top speed.

At the touch of a button behind the gear lever, the on-board computer modifies the engine map for sharper steering responses and more dynamic performance, while an 'Overboost' function increases torque from 260 to 280 Nm over short stints. A host of electronic stability programs coset owners, while deactivating Dynamic Stability Control enables grip-enhancing Electronic Differential Lock, improving handling and traction.

But to ensure that their new-generation Cooper S Hatchback and Clubmans look the part are a new range of JCW body styling products. They include CHALLENGE 17-inch Cross-Spoke alloys with run-flats, large polished stainless steel exhaust tips and cooling-enhancing bonnet intake. Piano Black trim, Anthracite roof lining and a 10-speaker audio system head up the interior enhancements, while John Cooper Works branding adorns boot, grille, wheels and doors.

    Press Release

The new MINI John Cooper Works on the starting grid at Geneva
Factory-built JCW Cooper S Hatch and Clubman set for summer launch

    • Engine modifications deliver 211hp and 0-62 in 6.5 seconds
    • Engine, brakes, suspension settings and transmission adapted from MINI CHALLENGE race car
    • Dynamic Traction Control makes MINI debut
    • Full range of John Cooper Works body styling products available
    • On-the-road prices expected to be £20,500 for the JCW Hatch and Clubman at £21,700
    • New speedo design to accommodate the higher maximum speed

Production of John Cooper Works-tuned cars is all set to resume at MINI’s Plant Oxford after the launch of the second-generation MINI Cooper S Hatch and new MINI Cooper S Clubman. From July 2008, customers will be able to order factory-built MINIs that produce 211hp and complete a 0-62mph sprint in 6.5 seconds.

Motor sport has heavily influenced the engineering and development of these new MINIs that feature a larger twin-scroll turbocharger and direct petrol injection with common rail. The four-cylinder engine has had the same modifications as the MINI CHALLENGE race car, along with re-engineered brakes, suspension and strengthened gearing. Each upgrade combines to give the car a remarkable output of 132hp per litre combined with 40mpg.

Expected prices on-the-road are £20,500 for the MINI John Cooper Works and £21,700 for the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman. The cars will be unveiled for the first time to the public at the International Geneva Motor Show in March.

    Engine

The engine specially developed for the MINI CHALLENGE race car is fitted to the MINI John Cooper Works cars. The basic unit is the 1.6 litre power plant supplied in the standard MINI Cooper S, but modifications have been made to the air filter, air mass meter, exhaust system and catalyst. Air supply to the modified larger turbocharger is increased through fitment of a larger air intake pipe, which in turn creates a quicker induction phase.

The Works engines from Hams Hall also come with reinforced, specially polished pistons, as well as a strengthened cylinder head for optimised stability and a modified cylinder gasket. The intake valves and valve seat rings have also been upgraded with stronger and more resistant materials. This reduces the engine’s compression ratio.

The new Sports exhaust system is instantly recognisable through the large polished stainless steel twin tailpipes. Modification of the exhaust system has also helped to reduce counter-pressure at the point of exhaust gas recirculation. Ducts in the exhaust manifold and turbocharger are split between two cylinders each. Congestion is therefore minimised when air is inducted to the turbocharger and “turbo lag” is virtually eliminated.

The John Cooper Works MINIs are the first models in the range to fulfil all the requirements of the European EU5 emission standards that come into force in 2009.

The material used in machining the turbine has been upgraded specifically for the Works engine, with maximum charge pressure increased from 0.9 to 1.3 bar, in order to maintain the highest possible temperature for a longer period in the combustion chambers. This lengthening of the combustion process helps to achieve the higher torque curve of the Works car at 260Nm at just 1,850rpm. The Overboost function briefly extends this further to 280Nm. This suits the character of a John Cooper Works car perfectly as Overboost is experienced exclusively through increased torque, not on engine output.

    Safety and Driving Dynamics

MINI has always had sophisticated driving stability systems as standard. These include ABS Brakes, EBD Electronic Brake Force Distribution, CBC Cornering Brake Control, EDL Electronic Differential Lock, as well as DSC Dynamic Stability Control and Hill Assist. For the first time, DTC Dynamic Traction Control is added to the list.

DTC allows controlled slip on the drive wheels. For example, on a slippery surface, the driver can pick up speed in a controlled manner with the front wheels spinning slightly. When reaching the upper limit, DSC will intervene as usual. But the driver can deactivate the DSC/DTC systems if he wishes by the touch of a button.

In the DSC-off mode, the standard Electronic Differential Lock can be activated and controls cornering at higher speeds. If one wheel loses grip, drive is transferred to the wheel with better grip promoting the car’s traction and pulling force.

    Chassis

The Sports Suspension has been specifically tuned for the Works models. However, even greater chassis rigidity can be achieved by ordering through dealerships the John Cooper Works suspension that lowers the entire car by 10mm.

Extra-large disc brakes adorned with uprated red callipers are fitted to Works cars. In addition, inner-vented discs are positioned behind the front wheels. The front discs are 17” in diameter while the rear set measure 16”. The brake discs are approximately 22mm larger than on the standard Cooper S.

    Interior

The options included as standard on the John Cooper Works include a leather sports steering wheel, air-conditioning, interior trim in glossy Piano Black and an Anthracite roof lining.

An upgraded sound system is also included in the JCW package and features 10 speakers and an eight-channel amplifier for increased aural pleasure. For the first time, the MINI speedo has been increased to 160mph on the dial to accommodate the higher maximum speed of the JCW.

The six-speed manual gearbox has been strengthened to handle the powerful new engine.

The standard Sports button, located in front of the gear stick, activates a bespoke engine control map which produces even more dynamic performance and sharper steering response.

    Exterior

The Works MINIs come with exclusive 17” light-alloy wheels in JCW Cross-Spoke CHALLENGE design, shod with Run-flat tyres, and weigh less than 10 kilos each.

The Works models can be identified by the newly-designed John Cooper Works logo on the boot and grille and wheels, as well as on the door trim.

MINI Crossman SUV Spy Photos and Rendering

Here are the latest spy photos and artist illustration showing the MINI Crossman wearing little disguise. Previously known internally as “Colorado”, last month we brought you news that the MINI compact crossover would be named Crossman. Essentially a Clubman wagon with all-wheel-drive and a higher ride height, the Crossman attempts to attract a broader “male” audience by making the Clubman more rugged. The Mini Crossman is expected to hits markets in 2010.

2008 MINI Clubman Greets America

North America rolled out the welcome mat for the 2008 MINI Clubman today amidst news of the new model's pricing in the U.S. A MINI Clubman (or MINI Cooper Clubman) will cost $20,600, while a Cooper S Clubman will go for $24,100, inclusive of destination charges.

That price reflects a modest step up from the Cooper and Cooper S, which go for $1,900 and $2,250 less in the states. The 2008 convertibles will still cost more than the Clubman, at $22,600 and 26,050.

MINI claims the Clubman opens up a "totally-new market segment," but in reality the Clubman is still a small sedan. An interestingly designed sedan, but a sedan nonetheless.

The five-door Clubman is laid out with two passenger-side doors - one of which is a suicide door called the "Clubdoor" - two rear doors, and one driver-side doors. The wheelbase on the Clubman is over three inches longer than that of the Cooper, helping to give significantly more room for rear passengers. Family's with two young children will find the Clubman to be a somewhat reliable option, as it will be a bit easier to get child safety seats in and out. Unfortunately, the lack of a door behind the driver may still be a put off for these buyers.

With split-rear doors at the back, MINI Clubman owners will find it easier to load and unload bulky items into the boot, although a hatchback with a higher placed hinge may have connected this model with the Cooper a little more. Still, with significantly more room in the boot, and a body length over 9 inches longer than the Cooper, the Clubman seems to be a solid option for anyone who feels as though they have outgrown their MINI.

The American market is a very important one for MINI, which saw 150,000 sales in its first five years. This may be the single biggest problem with the car: will it only be bought by current and former MINI Cooper owners, or will MINI be able to attract new customers with the Clubman?Source URL: https://carneeew.blogspot.com/search/label/MINI

A small Englishman called Mini Cooper is often a target of many tuners. A designer Joe Iacono and Rick Leos, a famous hot-rodder from Autocraft of Torrance in South California like small, but cute vehicles, so they’ve taken one Mini Cooper to a garage.

So these gentlemen has done one modification named Mini Cooper S Cabrio R53, but now they want to know what amount of power under the hood can this tiny car handle. So they’ve focused to its stuff under the hood.

So the first thing done was modifications of head cylinders on the Mini’s 1.6 four cylinder engine.
Of course, the performance tuning like this need better camshafts, tuned lead-ins and modified exhaust system. Also there’s new turbocharger and heavy duty intercooler. These ingredients boost the engine to some 300hp.

It’s pity that there’s no closer info about its top speed, acceleration and other interesting stuff. This power engine must do miracles in case of the light-weight Mini.

So the R56’s design looks exactly as the previous R53. A sporting bodykit bringing some muscles is a work of Joe Iacon. It’s not very aggressive, but decent with a sense for pure lines.

And if you combine the bodykit with beautiful black rims with red hem and vented brake discs under; the best warrior mix is here to attract all nearby eyes. And the Englishman looks great!

And what about its interior? The whole interior includes black leather upholstery with red stitches all around and it’s a great choice. Everyone who enters the car knows that it’s in the Airborne, because all Mini badges were removed and replaced with Airborne ones.

If you like this Mini and want to own this nice car in your garage don’t wait too long. There’ll be only 100 models available, but there’s a great chance that you’ll have the only Airborne in your county.Source URL: https://carneeew.blogspot.com/search/label/MINI

First Photos of John Cooper Works MINI Clubman

Drawing on its three-doored sibling for inspiration, the Clubman by JCW incorporates a new front bumper, (redundant) air scoop, carbon fibre mirrors and new exhaust tips. A unique stripe design has been applied, stretching from above the grille and over the bonnet, while it continues double-striped over the rear. Red brake callipers feature under extra light-weight 18-inch alloy wheels, for more precise road handling ability.

Power is expected to be hiked to near 215 hp from the MINI's 1.6-litre tubrocharged unit, in line with that of the JCW Cooper S hatchback. Torque is to rise to around 200 lb.-ft.

Further modifications such as carbon fibre instruments and switchgear can be expected, while an F1-style light on the instrument cluster indicating optimum gear shift time is also likely to feature. Stay tuned for more details ahead of the car's debut at Geneva next Spring.

New MINI Cooper S by AC Schnitzer

Premiering alongside a host of new and exciting models from AC Schnitzer at next month's specialist Essen Motor Show will be the German tuning firm's re-working of the new MINI Cooper S. Described as taking the cult car to new levels of finesse, the AC Schnitzer MINI gleams with a number of special sports developments from performance upgrades and an athletic body kit to sports suspension enhancements and exclusive interior detailing. This is a MINI truly worthy of its stripes.

Focusing on developing a suitable performance upgrade for the new car, AC Schnitzer have taken the new 175 hp unit from the new MINI Cooper S and upped power to 220 hp. 'Running rings around the present car's suspension' is that of the new AC Schnitzer suspension, both developed and tested on the Nurburgring by touring car legend Manfred Wollgarten.

From the track to the city, the new MINI by AC Schnitzer is a car insisted to ooze athleticism from the reflections in high-flying city buildings. This striking 'athletic face' is made so by a new front bumper design, incorporating body-coloured components and the strong, pointed corners of a new front spoiler. A choice of high-quality classic AC Schnitzer 17" or bi-colour 18" alloys is available, fitted with high-performance Michelin or Continental tyres.

At the rear, style takes just as much precedence with a new body-coloured rear skirt and diffuser - helping the AC Cooper S stay firmly on the tarmac. A twin sports silencer and chromed racing tailpipe is both stylish and produces a loud and clear soundtrack.

From a stylish, performance-led exterior, the interior offers a wealth of equally-stylish, matching accessories. Splashes of aluminium adorn the cabin, with an aluminium handbrake handle, gear shift knob, foot rest and pedal set, as well as AC Schnitzer-branded velour mats. And for the ultimate AC Schnitzer MINI enthusiasts, a host of stationary, posters and various other paraphernalia is available.

Stay tuned for more news on AC Schnitzer and their new MINI prior to and during December's Essen Motor Show - showcasing the very best tuned cars, classics, motorsport and car accessories for over 40 years.
